Meet The Team
Dr. Beaty was born in Mobile, Alabama but spent his middle and high school years in Morristown, Tennessee. He met his wife in 8th grade and got married the summer before his senior year of undergrad. Dr. Beaty is a graduate of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee majoring in Biology and minoring in Mathematics as well as the University of Alabama at Birmingham college of optometry.
Dr. Ryan Corte was born and raised in Novi, MI where he attended Novi High School. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Nutritional Science in 2008. He also attended The Ohio State University College of Optometry where he graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2012. Dr. Corte completed an Optometric Residency in eye disease and primary eye care at the Illinois College of Optometry in 2013. During his residency, he obtained advanced clinical competency to practice optometry at the highest level as well as provided educational assistance and supervision of third and fourth-year students as a clinical faculty member. He is a nationally recognized speaker that has a true passion for contact lenses and dry eye disease. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Corte has contributed to optometry through multiple leadership roles. Dr. Corte is a former Executive President of the American Optometric Student Association and is currently serving as the President of the Mountain District Optometric Society. Dr. Corte truly enjoys engaging with his community and looks forward to remaining involved throughout his professional career. Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife, kids, family, and friends as well as continuing to stay active in his community and in life.
Dr. Faulk was born in Guatemala and moved with her family at the age of six to North Carolina. They settled in Raleigh, where she grew up and attended Leesville High school. She graduated from NC State University with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Biotechnology. She continued on to Pennsylvania College of Optometry to receive her Optometry Doctorate in 2011. She has practiced in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. She currently resides in Gastonia with her husband and son. They enjoy traveling to the NC mountains and NC coast, especially the Outer Banks. During her free time she enjoys reading, working out and spending time with her family. Dr. Faulk speaks Spanish and is accepting new patients in the North Charlotte area.
Dr. Daniel Helin was born in Pickerington, Ohio and attended St. Francis DeSales High school. Upon graduation from high school, he attended The Ohio State University where he majored in Biology, with a minor in Business in 2018, graduating with honors. Dr. Helin continued his buckeye tradition at The Ohio State University College of Optometry in Columbus, OH and graduated in 2022 with a Doctorate in Optometry. Dr. Helin was president of the Contact Lens Advancement Society at Ohio State and has extensive experience in fitting a wide range of corneal irregularities including post-corneal transplant, keratoconus, post-RK and "hard to fit" patients. He is myopia control certified in MiSight and also experienced in Ortho-K. He is a member of the AOA and NCOS, and is a future candidate for fellowship in the scleral lens society. Dr. Helin moved to Asheville, NC in 2022 to join Northlake Eye and relocated to Charlotte, NC in 2023 to join the Concord Mills office. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors by running and hiking, playing ice hockey and golf, and exploring different restaurants within the area. ​
Dr. Kampe was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina and is a graduate of T.C. Roberson High school. She graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelors degree in Biology and received her Doctorate of Optometry from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry, now part of Drexel University, in Philadelphia. Dr. Kampe has been married to her husband, Barry since 1997 and they have two almost grown children. The family enjoys spending time in Hilton Head whenever possible. Dr. Kampe also enjoys reading, cooking and hanging out with her rescue cats and dogs. Dr. Kampe has been working as an optometrist in the Asheville and Hendersonville areas since 2000. She loves to see the patients she has had year after year, but is also welcoming new patients.
Dr. Robert Nestor was born and raised in Wellington, OH. He graduated from Ohio University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. He attended The Ohio State University College of Optometry where he graduated with Cum Laude honors and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2023. He moved from Columbus, Ohio to Charlotte, NC in 2024 to join Northlake Eye. His areas of interest in the optometry field include comprehensive eye care, ocular disease management, and specialty contact lenses. In his free time he can be found exploring the outdoors, watching sporting events, and enjoying all the activities that the great city of Charlotte has to offer.
Dr. Marie Huegel was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and spent part of her middle and high school years near Columbia, South Carolina. She attended Clemson University, where she developed a strong Tiger spirit and enjoyed time on Lake Hartwell as a member of the club rowing team. Dr. Huegel earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. She then completed a residency in ocular disease at Associated Eye Care in partnership with the Illinois College of Optometry, based in Stillwater, Minnesota. During her residency, she cultivated a special interest in dry eye disease—an area that continues to be a central focus of her clinical work. She is actively involved in her profession through memberships in several organizations, including the American Optometric Association (AOA), the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), the North Carolina Optometric Society (NCOS), and the Piedmont Optometric Society. In addition, Dr. Huegel participates in the YoungOD Connect program, which supports new and upcoming optometrists through education and community engagement focused on full-scope practice. Outside the clinic, Dr. Huegel enjoys spending time with her husband, Patrick, and their energetic dog, Cedar. They met playing ultimate frisbee, which they both still enjoy to this day. They have lived in Charlotte for several years and love exploring nearby towns and attractions. Dr. Huegel is passionate about building long-term relationships with her patients and delivering quality, personalized eye care. She is currently welcoming new patients.
