1) Why did you become an optometrist?
From an early age, I remember telling people I wanted to be an optometrist when I grew up because I usually got to explain what that was. As I furthered my education, I learned I am very passionate about biology and solving complex problems. Optometry allows me to solve those problems with one of the most intricately crafted organs in our body - the eye! More importantly, Optometry allows me to improve patients' lives in a deeply affecting way.
2) What inspired you to practice in Asheville?
My wife and I are from the other side of the Smoky Mountains and we're looking for an area that provided a sense of home while also presenting new and exciting adventures. Asheville fits that bill, and we can’t wait to try out all the coffee shops and explore every trail!
3) What is your favorite thing about being an eye doctor?
I love patient education. There is something really fulfilling about taking the time to slow down and have a conversation during an exam. Mutual understanding and connection with a patient means I have done my job and they are being cared for properly.
4) What do you feel makes Reflect Vision Care different?
Reflect Vision Care prioritizes and excels at the flow of information. Having the latest technology available in the exam rooms and a team network approach fosters open lines of communication between doctors, staff, and patients streamlining the entire patient experience.
5) What do you like to do when you're not seeing patients?
In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, traveling, playing the french horn, making pour-over coffees, and taking care of our hedgehog, Benjamin Linus.
